We’re a Windhoek-based tour operator and destination management company, building private, guided and self-drive safaris across Namibia, Botswana and South Africa.
Brandit Africa Tours & Safaris was founded on a simple frustration: travel had gotten too mainstream. Too many visitors to this continent were seeing the same handful of postcard locations, funnelled through the same overcrowded routes, and going home having barely scratched the surface of what Africa actually is.
We wanted something different. We set out to show travellers the Africa that few people get to see — the hidden gems, the off-the-beaten-path corners, the places that don’t make it onto the standard itinerary but should. Not because the popular spots aren’t worth seeing, but because the real magic of this continent so often lives just beyond them.
That’s still what drives every route we build today: fewer crowds, more authenticity, and a genuine shot at falling in love with the places you visit — the way we did.

To design safaris that go beyond the obvious route — connecting travellers with authentic, lesser-seen corners of Namibia, Botswana and South Africa, while treading as lightly as possible on the landscapes and communities that make these journeys possible. We work with operators, guides and camps who share that same respect for the environment, so that the places we love to show off stay wild for the next traveller too.

Gerhardus has spent years crisscrossing Africa and Asia — by track, trail, or handshake — scouting the routes and hidden corners that never make it onto a standard itinerary. He measures a good destination not by how photogenic it is, but by how well he was welcomed there, and he’s spent as much time sitting with local communities as he has behind the wheel.

Part guide, part photographer, part relentless perfectionist. JJ’s love of nature and photography sends him back out across Namibia again and again, chasing the light, the angle, and the accommodation that actually lives up to the view. If a camp or a route makes it onto a Brandit Africa itinerary, it’s because JJ has already stood there with a camera and decided it’s worth showing you.

The numbers behind the adventure. Hennie keeps Brandit Africa’s operations sharp and dependable, with a soft spot for cheetahs and a genuine appetite for discovering new places himself. Between spreadsheets, he’s usually planning the next trip somewhere he hasn’t been.
